Here at Aerial Ambitions we reinforce all of our training with the intention of being able to perform one day. You're not just training to get stronger, but you train to put on a show and sequence all that you've learned together in the air. We offer opportunities for our students to perform at 1-2 showcases a year, ideally in the spring and fall.
The way this would work is the date for the showcase would be set by the teachers. Then we look at our student base to see who’s been consistently coming to classes for at least 6 months and has a skill vocabulary that can be choreographed. Then we narrow down those students according to time commitments, have they done previous showcases before, are they currently training to perform with another sister studio towards a different showcase, etc. From there, we see how many slots we have available, for the acts we can put together to make sure we are not over committing our instructors for choreographing and class times.
Then the email invites go out! We see who’s actually able to make the commitment to the showcase and the 8 minimum showcase classes and the mandatory dress rehearsal. After we receive all the responses, we pair up partners, and assign solos.
Then the fun begins. All the instructors choreograph the pieces and start working on the skills for the piece in class. We want all the students set up for success, that way when it’s time for the big day, the show they put on for the audience will be worth all the hard work.
The students would be in charge of getting their own outfits, hair, and show makeup. The teachers would provide direction on what works best for the student and the apparatus.
We will have a mandatory dress rehearsal the day before the showcase or the morning of the showcase to run through all the pieces, while wearing the costumes for the showcase.
If you decide you want to participate in an upcoming showcase, there will be more specific information provided about the showcase via email with all the other performers.
If you’re interested in performing in our future showcases, let us know and start being that consistent student. Showcase is a great goal for everyone to reach for during their training. We can’t wait to work with you and for you to come support everyone at our upcoming showcases.
We encourage all students to invite their family and friends to come support the students at the showcases. It's a great way for students to have a goal to reach for during their aerial journey. We showcase all levels from beginners to more advanced students. If you can't make it to the live show, don't worry, we will also be streaming it live on twitch. Hope to see you in the audience or in the air!
